Camp is quiet again

It has taken some getting used to but camp is quiet for now. We had such an awesome summer it is hard to believe it went so fast. This year we were excited to have beautiful weather from the very beginning. Even our staff training time was hot and sunny. June Camp had great weather too with occasional rain to keep the rivers going. The climbers and bikers celebrated by running great trips every week. Paddling had a great group that got onto the French Broad this year. Sailing and Horseback Riding sure stayed busy too. In Main Camp we started camping right away with cabin overnights into the Back 40. Camp was packed with lots of trips between Marti-Gras, Barn day, games, and Luau. The highlights must have been the New River Gorge climbing trip, Charlotte Whitewater Park paddling trip, DuPont Horse Riding trip, and Dark Mountain for the bikes.

Now camp is hosting several shoulder season events including Hannah Owen’s birthday and a week full of adventure for the local Mountain Community School, a Hendersonville charter school. We are also hosting some school groups and weddings at Green Cove. Frank and his wife Nancy are up North for a week. Robert is busy getting his new minivan ready for a little boy. Kim is excited to have her son Jim home on leave from Iraq. All is well here in Tuxedo and we hope you all are enjoying school and family.
