New DVD!!

Click here to see the new DVD online! (If this link doesn't work, click on "Camp Movie" on our website). Mondamin's is brand new, shot last summer in HD widescreen. Green Cove's video is next up for a redo. You can also see it on YouTube. Email us for a copy if you'd like a DVD... activities haven't changed much, but it's new and fun to watch!

Lake Down...

Camp can be kinda dismal in the winter... but really pretty, too,in a way campers rarely see. The lake's been down for a couple of months, so we and others can work on docks, seawalls, and such. It's been frozen over several times. That's the lake bottom you see in the foreground above... sediment brought in by the river from upstream. It's still 25 - 30 feet deep in that area, so no danger of running aground in your sailboat!

2011 Schedule

Canoe/Kayak clinic: April 29 - May 1

kayakThe Scholarship Foundation Fundraiser Canoe/Kayak Clinics have become a tradition, rich with new and renewed friendships, against the background of beautiful North Carolina rivers on which to learn and explore. Come join us! All the proceeds of this event above food cost will go directly to the Frank and Calla Bell Scholarship Foundation, so your vacation and your gift enabling young people to experience camp will be one and the same.

canoeOur head instructor will be Gordon Grant. Gordo is a life long paddler, ex-Mondamin camper and staff member, former head of instruction at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, writer for Paddler Magazine, and well known in the paddling world.

We will work with both canoes and kayaks, on nearby rivers. Beginner to intermediate paddlers will find this clinic appropriate and challenging; more advanced paddlers will have a chance to work on their skills. A full description and registration form can be found here; call or email if you have questions...

Mondamin's 90th Reunion

Four score and ten years ago, a young adventurer who would come to be known as "Chief" decided in March to have a camp that summer, on then-new Lake Summit. We'll celebrate the 90th anniversary of that summer August 19 - 21, 2011 and hope to see many alums back in the North Carolina mountains.

Gary Eblen, along with Hoyle Adams, John Dockendorf, Gordon Grant, Mike Trufant and Kathryn Overstreet are our coordinators and cheerleaders. Gary says, "I'm expecting a huge turnout, spread the word and tell your friends to sign up now!" Plenty for the non-alum wives, husbands and kids to do as well. Email us or Gary if you have more questions, or especially if you'd like to help get it organized, work on program, etc.
