The first weekend of May found an enthusiastic group of paddlers out for a weekend of fun and learning, under the guidance of Gordon Grant, at the 22nd Scholarship Foundation fundraiser.
Saturday was predicted to be rainy, but turned out to be just cloudy, and we had a terrific day on the Chattooga. We paddled about four miles of the river, including the bottom of section III and the upper part of section IV (though Woodall Shoals). Bull Sluice, if you haven't been there in a couple of years, has changed greatly.
The next day we went to the French Broad and paddled section 9, down to Stackhouse. It was a beautiful, sunny day and everyone did great!
The next clinic will probably be the same weekend in May, 2009. If you haven't spent a weekend on the river with Gordo, you should put it on the calendar and plan on it. Call or email us (contact info below) and get your reservation in early!!
